    Thanks for the great breakdown! Looking to buy one now - it's between this exact one - OR for $200 more, Broil King 5 burner Regal S590 Pro... Could you give me your thoughts! The Broil King will be much bigger, same grates... what do you think???

    • @justgrillin
      @justgrillin 6 днів тому

      We don't represent Broil King. Part of that reasoning is the quality is not there for us. I think you'll have the Weber longer (with proper care) and that Weber is the better brand when it comes to customer support. Broil King wouldn't be in business still if people didn't buy their products and have good experiences with them. We don't like dealing with upset people or warranty claims so I prefer Weber. Rarely do we have this problem, or any problem for that matter, when Weber grills go out the door. Depends on the type of shopper you are too. I usually look for consistency and reliability in products. I want something to last a long time and cost me as little to maintain as possible during that time period. Weber has a great reputation for this and Broil King, from what I've read and heard, has work to do in this category. The Broil King has flashier features at a relatively inexpensive cost difference. The question really becomes do you see the grill lasting as long as the Weber? Because if you want this to last 10 years and you get 5 years, it's going to cost you much more than the nominal price difference. - Sam

      @@hugolemay1559 it’s definitely heftier than what the Smokefire was. However, I would say you probably would still need that. I do a lot of grilling in the winter and I'm in N Dakota. How cold will this grill operate, I know the Traeger won't run below 30 degrees?

    • @justgrillin
      @justgrillin 15 днів тому

      Weber doesn't really specify an exact temp range. It says that the screen might not turn if it's really cold on so you would just hit the knob to let the grill run at 200 degrees for a few minutes and then it should start. They say it should run in cold weather, just might take longer to get to the set temperature. I lived in Sioux City, Iowa for a few years. Probably not as cold as it gets in your area but I know the type of cold you're referencing. You might need to invest in a heat-rated insulated blanket to drape over the grill. I know it gets below zero pretty quickly with the wind chill. Yoder Smokers might be your best option. Those are built in the Midwest and there's plenty of people in the upper plains and central lowlands with their grills. - Sam

    My question is how do these grills compare to a nepolien grill. Which are cheaper and have better features

    • @justgrillin
      @justgrillin 17 днів тому

      Have you been to see the new Summit in a store yet? The new Summit would need to be compared to the Prestige Pro series. The build quality of the Summit is really beefed up from previous models. The appearance is also much better than the Napoleon models. The Summit is very clean and modern looking. The top-down infrared burner on the Summit is a better feature than the Napoleon infrared burner built into the side shelf. The Summit is giving you more cooking space to sear and you aren't going to be as prone to the wind blowing it out. The rotisserie tucks away easily on the Summit compared to the Napoleon. The Weber has the cross-bar burner which is a nice feature if you live in a windy area. If a burner goes out, it would automatically re-light as long as the knob is still twisted on. That's nice to not have to worry about a burner blowing out. The Weber Crafted Frame comes with the Summit and you can add a lot of different accessories to cook with. You can also get a second frame kit and double up on using multiple accessories at the same time. The top-down lighting in the Summit is really strong and nice. I like the lights on the Weber better than a lot of other fancy grills actually. Any warranty experience years down the road would be better with the dedicated US-based support line for Summit owners. You can use it for recipe and cooking help too. You can ask how to use certain features of the grill better. The Summit is also made in Illinois still. Napoleon makes their products in a few different places and doesn't specify exactly where certain ones are made. Those are some of the major differences. This grill isn't for everyone and I say that in the video. Weber still makes a solid product and most Summit owners will have their grills for at least 10+ years. Weber's are known for their longevity and durability. But that only matters if you take care of what you purchase. If you are the type to buy a new grill every 5 years (not saying you are but we have plenty of clients that do this) spending more doesn't make sense. I don't know enough about the longevity of the Napoleon brand as they are somewhat newer to selling in the States. - Sam

    • @nicholasdemarest4254
      @nicholasdemarest4254 17 днів тому

      @justgrillin look I can buy a high end nepolien grill with a rear infrared burner for rotisserie for under 2500 dollars. It comes with everything the summit comes with. For 4000 dollars does the summit come with a cover? Because if not huge downfall for the price.

    • @nicholasdemarest4254
      @nicholasdemarest4254 17 днів тому

      Ok maybe do a comparison between the nepolien pro elite 665 and the weber summit you might convince me. But I can get the nepolien for 3700 dollars on bbg guys website with cover and other add ons. What comes with the weber since it costs more up front

    • @justgrillin
      @justgrillin 17 днів тому

      @@nicholasdemarest4254 The 665 is essentially the same size grill as the Summit. Both have 5 main burners. The Summit has a little bit stronger heat output per burner than the Napoleon. You have the adjustable top rack on the Summit with the larger sear zone. The rotisserie tucks away and has back hooks and cabinet hooks for easy storage. All the wheels on the Summit are swivel casters so it for sure moves around easier. The lighting system is better on the Summit unless you like the colored lights The grease management system on the Summit is easier to clean and care for too. If you're getting Liquid Propane (LP) the Summit has the tank scale gauge whereas the Napoleon does not. Again, you have the dedicated support hotline with the Summit. The cover is not included with the Summit. I can't speak to Napoleon longevity but I know when we send someone home with a Weber that I'm not going to get any bad calls about something messed up. Everything isn't always going to match up exactly in price. I equate comparing these brands to power tools. Makita, Milwaukee, Dewalt, Bosch, Ridgid, Ryobi, etc... all make the same type of tool. How well they perform and hold up over time differs though. Sometimes a good deal is a good deal and other times it ends up not. I would say part of your cost difference would be buying from a brand you might trust more versus the other. - Sam

    Hey Sam. Solid video. I just purchased an S-325. I chose the stainless steel over the E-325 enameled version as it seemed to be the better option. However if the double sided sear grate is enameled, did I make the wrong choice? Is this adapter really necessary for steaks? We’re a ribeye family.

    • @justgrillin
      @justgrillin 19 днів тому

      @@MemphisDC no. If you were to compare the basic porcelain enamel grates to the sear grate, the coating is clearly different. Cast iron heats up better than stainless steel because it holds the heat in better. The stainless grates will clean up better and are much sturdier than the basic cast iron grates. This is probably a 10-year grill for you, if not longer. We find our clients want new cast iron grates in half that time whereas our clients with stainless rarely ever need to replace until it’s time for a new grill. I would use as is and if you feel you need more heat, then the accessory would be worth it in your case. The flat top accessory or full griddle is 100% worth it. It’s my favorite way to prep burgers. Thanks for watching and the kind words. - Sam

      @@justgrillin thanks for the quick reply back. How long ago did they get rid of the standard fuel gauge? I know it wasn’t perfect, but seems like a miss to not include it anymore on the standard more affordable models.

      @@Bondrkmz just this year. It was a standard feature for many years. I mention at the beginning that Weber scaled features back and part of that is to help make the price points of grills lower. Since 2021, most prices on the grills climbed a minimum of $200 to about $400 per model above current prices. To reel in the pricing this year, they choose to remove features. Quality of everything is still on par which is good. - Sam

    You published this right after I ordered my Weber Genesis- wish I had been able to watch this first! It would have saved me hours and hours of researching the different models. I think you nailed every point, and it sounds like your customers are interested in the same things I was interested in. I absolutely wanted the integrated handle lights, sear burner, the side locker, fuel gauge, and the 9mm stainless steel grates. It had other stuff I liked but weren't deal breakers, mainly the folding warming rack. Weber seriously knocked it out of the park with the SP-E-335. I was pricing out trying to add things like the handle lights and 9mm stainless grates to a lower end model, and it just didn't work out price-wise. They added in practically everything I wanted into the special edition model at an acceptable price. If I had to guess, I bet most places are selling the special edition model more than any other, just seems to be the best value if you're in the ~$1500 bracket. Just my two cents, but to anyone who thinks they might want the integrated handle lights, it was 100% worth getting them. It has enough lighting for me to grill without needing to mess around with my headlamp. It's such a game changer for me, I feel like this should be a standard feature on every grill that isn't barebones entry-level. I simply can't go back to having to set up lighting or have a headlamp if I want to grill in the evening. I think Weber would do good to use the same base "platform" on the Genesis to allow users of even the most base model to be able to upgrade their grill, such as having the mounting holes to be able to add on the storage side locker to a base model. Obviously they could sell all these upgrades at a premium to encourage you to just buy a higher SKU from the get-go. The special edition model had basically everything I wanted regardless, so it's not affecting me, but it seems like a logical step for them. Thanks for the video. I'm not local to you guys but the content here is great.

      Special Editions aren't widely available so they aren't even close to their nationwide top sellers. You may be surprised to hear this but the best selling Genesis model (nationwide) is the entry model. It's the cheapest and most widely available. Glad you found the video on par with your thoughts. The SP-E-335 is a great grill. We have a video on here that is specifically about that model. It's the 2022 version but the performance is the same. The integrated handle light really is a great feature. Enjoy the grill and have a great Independence Day holiday. Thanks for watching and the kind words. - Sam

    There are no aromatic polymers released from burning charcoal. Burning wood does release these as well as acids, organic alcohols, as well as the creosote. I would wager if you used a brand new grill, you'd have tasted zero smoke flavour, because charcoal (especially pellets where theres no chance for there to be un-pyrolised wood elements) simply does not undergo the chemical reaction that produces these componds, but increasing your grill 100° above normal might have reawakened deposits inside the grill which imparted some flavour. Experimentally, this would be a "contaminant" - but not harmful to anything more than the outcome, during your temp test it was clear the grill area was not as pristine as the hopper. Cooking _over_ charcoal is the only way to impart the flavour, because anything that comes down off of the meat will float back up to impart those flavours from vaporising rendered fat or any other liquid the contraction of protein wrings out. These pellets are a great fuel source for high heat requirements, nothing more.

      @@mustangdbest220 typically 1200 cfm fans are the standard. There could be a brand that possibly makes something stronger but I don’t know of any. 1200 CFM is more than adequate. The installation matters for effectiveness and the size of the hood does too. It also helps to have the expectation that no outdoor hood gets 100% of the smoke. Too many factors like natural drafts, gusts, wind, type of grill, etc… also play a role.

      @justgrillin Місяць тому

      Make sure you watch our 2024 guide: ua-cam.com/video/xenu0a_XM4E/v-deo.html The models with the 9MM stainless grates are better because of the grates. Weber's generous warranty on these grills does not match up with how long the PECI grates hold up. The 9MM grates are thick so they'll hold up well and are easier to care for over a 10-year period. Even the models with the 7MM grates are good but the 9MM grates are a great value. Watch the 2024 video and you'll see them compared to a grill line that starts in the $4k plus range. - Sam
